DESCRIPTION: Our name may have changed, but this event -in its 13th year- continues to be a highly anticipated Fall staple for runners, walkers, joggers, and stroller pushers of every age and fitness level! It's the longest running five mile event in Central Texas.
LOCATION: Cedar Park, Texas just minutes northwest of Austin on US183. Start/Finish in parking lot of Buttercup Creek Commons Shopping Center located on the southwest corner of the intersection at Buttercup Creek and US183 (not to be confused with toll road 183A).
WHO: We're family-friendly, meaning we're open to adults and kids of all ages. Anyone wishing to get out for a good community cause--WALKERS, RUNNERS, JOGGERS--mark your calendars!!! Strollers and crowd-friendly pets are welcome too!*
ABOUT OUR EVENTS
KIDS 1K FUN RUN - Open to all kiddos 11 and under, the Kids 1K event is a fun run and is not timed. Participants receive a commemorative tee shirt upon registration. Medals will be given to the first 100 participants to cross the finish line!
5-MILER MAIN EVENT IS A CHIP-TIMED loop out-back road race through the Buttercup neighborhood, beginning and ending in the Commons Shopping Center. Course details coming soon!
OTHER RACE DAY ACTIVITIES: Racers and their guests will enjoy activities and entertainment for the kids. Post-race refreshments will be available for event participants. More info to come!
REGISTRATION: Online registration is preferred. Paper copies are available at the Twin Lakes Family YMCA, 204 E. Little Elm, Cedar Park, TX. Under the blue roof on US183 between Cypress Creek and Lakeline Blvd.
AWARDS: All registered participants receive our traditional long-sleeved commemorative tee and goodie bag from our sponsors. First 100 finishers in the Kids 1K receive a participant medal. In the 5 Miler, trophies will be awarded to top three finishers in each of 16 age categories.
HISTORY: Since 1996, proceeds totaling over $55,000 have been contributed to local initiatives. Under the direction of the Twin Lakes Family YMCA, the tradition continues! Proceeds will benefit Cedar Park's hike & bike trail enhancement, community policing initiatives and Strong Kids' scholarship assistance for area youth!
*Strollers and crowd friendly pets begin the event at the rear of the group for the safety of all our participants. This event is not open to rollerblading or cycling.
