What is the purpose of Race for Relief?
The purpose of Race for Relief is to help the Karamojong tribe in Mbale, Uganda. The Karamojong are known as beggars to their nearby towns. Most of the children are orphans and are forced to dig through the rubbish piles for their food and often only eat one meal a day. Many adults have assumed extra responsibility for the care of children left without parents due to war, AIDS, or other diseases. Because of the lack of resources and care for the children, many of them are left fighting unemployment, hunger, and disease daily.

Why should we help?
Thanks to the generous donations from our last Race for Relief sponsored by SIFE, ICHOOSEYOU, and the support of our community we were able to buy land in Namtala, build a pig farm, and employ individuals from the Karamojong tribe. This success provides new opportunities to help the people of Karamojong tribe succeed and establish a safer, healthier lifestyle.
We live in a land of abundance. Our fortunes should inspire us to help others help themselves. In the effort to help, we are not only providing aid and relief to people who need it, but we are providing them with an opportunity to better their current situation. After all, if you give a man a fish, you give him food for a day; but if you teach a man how to fish, you give him food for a lifetime.
