Our marathon training program will have you ready for the Austin Marathon on February 14, 2010!
All group workouts are run workouts at the track, where team members will enhance running form, increase speed, and improve endurance. Our fall/winter training schedule will emphasize the benefits of cross-training in a fun team environment.
We welcome ALL speeds. You should comfortably be able to run 8 miles before beginning our marathon training program.
Workout Days
Track work -- Wednesday evenings, 6:30 - 8:30pm
Long runs -- Saturday mornings, usually starting and ending at Barton Springs pool so we can finish up with a recovery soak for our legs. We will do several long runs on the marathon course.
All members of the TRI ZONES TRAINING marathon training group will receive:
- Coached weekly Wednesday night track workouts, with emphasis on improving technique, form, strength, balance, and speed
- Group long runs on Saturdays for the half marathon and marathon training groups
- Written training schedule every month
- Implementation of heart rate training
- Strength work guidance, including core strength
- Email access to coach for questions, tips, and guidance
- Access to our team web site and discussion forum
- Team tent at the finish line of the team's goal races
