Military Veteran Walks from Florida to California
to Raise Funds for DAV
AUSTIN, TX – February 3, 2010 – Starting Veterans Day through Memorial Day, Marine Veteran Richard Hunsucker from Green Bay, Wisconsin, embarks on a journey to raise funds for the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) by walking 202 days across America from Florida to California.
· Richard left Jacksonville, Florida on November 11, 2009
· He will walk through Austin Wednesday February 3, 2010; he will be walking south, crossing the South Lamar Bridge near South Lamar and Barton Springs Rd at approximately 1:00pm.
The Walk Across America begins at Duvall County War Memorial in Jacksonville, Florida and will take Hunsucker through eight states, ending at the Balboa Park War Memorial in San Diego, California on Memorial Day.
A pace-car, fully decked with patriotic memorabilia and remembrance of the wars, will follow Hunsucker during the trip.
Hunsucker will visit veterans’ medical centers and outpatient clinics interviewing disabled veterans, doctors, nurses, family members and the public.
The Walk Across America team is comprised of Hunsucker and one internet support member. Drivers of this vehicle are various volunteers who have stepped up to help support Hunsucker throughout his journey.
