RunTex is excited to announce Austin Radiological Association (ARA) as the Title Sponsor of the “Run Hard, Live Easy 30K.” Since 1954, ARA has provided quality imaging services to the people of Austin and Central Texas, and for the second consecutive year will sponsor the 2nd longest Distance Challenge race.
“Sponsoring and participating in the 30K is becoming an important part of Austin Radiological Association culture,” said Dr. Michael Pfeifer, a board certified radiologist, who has completed 3 previous Distance Challenge Series. “We are very excited about supporting Central Texas runners, and the changes with this year’s event.”
Although last years event, the ARA 20 Miler, was held in San Marcos on a 20 mile course, race organizers decided to bring the race back to Austin, highlighting the beautiful Barton Creek and Lost Creek neighborhoods.
“We decided to move the course back into Austin and settled on the hills of Barton Creek/Lost Creek to better prepare runners for the hills on the AT&T Austin Marathon,” said Paul Carrozza, owner of RunTex. “This will likely be the most challenging, but also the most beautiful course, we have seen in a long time.”
However, the distance and the course are not the only changes for this year’s event. After renewing their sponsorship for the 2nd year, ARA executives chose to partner with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Austin and Central Texas as the beneficiary for the ARA 30K.
“The opening of the new Ronald Mc Donald House at the Dell Children’s Hospital creates more opportunity to support families, but it also generates additional need for support and awareness of all the Ronald McDonald House Charities programs,” said Debi Brannan, Director of Business Development for Austin Radiological Association. “Because of the new house and the Ronald McDonald House Charities’ tie to local hospitals, partnering with Ronald McDonald House is a great fit for both the Austin Radiological Association and the ARA 30K.”
The 4th race in the Distance Challenge series will begin at 7:00 AM on January 6, 2008 in the circle drive at St. Gabriel’s Catholic School. In addition to the usual amenities, each ARA 30K finisher will receive a finisher’s medal.
