Original Maps by Edward Tasch
South Northwest Northeast Central

City and county planners in the greater Austin area have embraced the concept of dedicating natural areas for trail use, benefiting the entire community. Although the original 10.1 mile Town Lake loop, which runs east-west from MoPac to Longhorn Dam remains the social hub for runners and walkers, newer regional trails have been created that allow residents from all points to enjoy easy access. Hike and bike trails, which are greatly appreciated by young and old alike, provide a welcome escape from the urban hustle and bustle, and offer a perfect setting for runners, walkers, and mountain bikers. And Austin's got plenty of them. At last count, the city had over 50 miles worth of trails.
